Mauby is a very refreshing, cooling, bitter-sweet drink derived from the bark of a tree found in West Africa and some islands in the Caribbean. The bark is boiled with cinnamon and cloves and allowed to steep. The finished product is cooled and sugar and water is added to create this unique drink. In 1966 Mr. Luther Miller created a formula to concentrate this, added vanilla and almond essences and the Mauby syrup was born. All that is needed is one part syrup to four parts water and presto you have mauby.
